Switching Between Buyer and Seller Mode

Referr lets you buy leads, sell leads, or do both. You can change your account type whenever your needs change.

Who Can Switch?

Anyone with a Referr account can switch between:

• Buyer – Create lead requests and purchase leads
• Seller – Submit leads and earn money
• Both – Access all features

How to Change Your Account Type

1. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
2. Select Settings
3. Click Account in the sidebar
4. Under Account Type, select your preferred option:
   • To buy leads
   • To sell leads
   • Both
5. Click Save Changes

Your account type updates immediately.

What Happens When You Switch?

Switching to Buyer Only

• You'll keep access to:

  • All your existing lead requests
  • All purchased leads
  • Message history

• You'll lose access to:

  • Submitting new leads
  • Viewing your Lead Sales page
  • Requesting payouts (existing balance remains)

Switching to Seller Only

• You'll keep access to:

  • All your submitted leads
  • Your earnings and payout history
  • Message history

• You'll lose access to:

  • Creating new lead requests
  • Viewing inbound leads
  • Purchasing leads

Note: Your existing lead requests will be paused but not deleted.

Switching to Both

• You'll have full access to all features
• Any previously paused lead requests will need to be manually reactivated

Requirements for Each Type

Buyer Requirements

No special requirements—any verified account can buy leads.

To purchase leads, you'll need to:

• Add a payment method in Settings → Billing

Seller Requirements

To sell leads and receive payouts, you'll need to:

• Be in a Stripe-supported country
• Set up Stripe Connect in Settings → Billing

If you're not in a supported country, you can still be a Buyer.

"I signed up as a Buyer but now want to sell leads too"

1. Go to Settings → Account
2. Change to Both
3. Set up Stripe Connect in Settings → Billing
4. Start browsing lead requests on the Explore page

"I was doing both but want to focus on buying only"

1. Go to Settings → Account
2. Change to Buyer
3. Your seller features will be hidden, but earnings remain

"I'm a Seller but a great lead request appeared for my industry"

1. Go to Settings → Account
2. Change to Both
3. Add a payment method
4. Create your lead request

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my data if I switch?

No. All your existing data is preserved:

• Lead requests (may be paused if switching away from Buyer)
• Submitted leads and sales history
• Messages and conversations
• Earnings and payout history

Can I switch back?

Yes, you can switch as many times as you want.

Is there a cost to switch?

No, switching account types is always free.

What happens to my pending payouts?

Pending payouts remain in your account. You can switch back to Seller (or Both) anytime to request a payout.

Will my lead requests stop working?

If you switch from Buyer/Both to Seller only, your lead requests will be paused. Sellers won't be able to submit leads until you switch back and reactivate them.
